Although many countries around the world have found success in curbing the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, the United States is not one of them. Cases continue to increase as more states continue reopening non-essential businesses. CNN claims that one out of every 100 Americans have tested positive. An interesting change in the course of the virus is that it has now shifted age groups, with a large portion of infected individuals being under the age of 29. A large cause of this is young people gathering in large groups or socializing at newly reopened bars and restaurants. The spread also largely comes from asymptomatic individuals who pass the virus to others unknowingly or unexpectedly.

Another factor is that different decisions about handling the virus are being made at local levels, rising all the way to national levels. With such different regulations in states and communities, the responsibility turns to individuals to know what the best practices are, even if certain local mandates state otherwise. Another main concern right now as the summer begins to wind down is the upcoming school year and what that will look like around the nation. Every community will have to assess where they are at in terms of the possibility of in person schooling and what risks they are willing to take in their communities.
