Holiday Travel Amidst COVID-19

The holiday season is most often a time of joy, family, and friends. However this year, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, this upcoming holiday season will look like one unlike any other. Many are weighing the risks of choosing to travel to gather with family and friends, and the safest ways possible if choosing to do so. Top risks to consider include family gatherings with elders or others with pre-existing conditions and safety while traveling during the holidays. With just a few days to Thanksgiving, it is important to start these conversations now to ensure the safety of oneself and others.

Although there is no way to be 100% safe from COVID-19 when gathering with others, there are ways to decrease the possibility of transmission. Gathering outside, masks always worn, few people together, testing often, and social distancing are just some ways to decrease risk. However, it is important to understand that even with utilizing all these safety precautions, none will fully prevent COVID-19. Some safer options include video calling with family and friends or utilizing streaming services to synchronously watch movies online.
