As the COVID-19 pandemic has lasted, and will continue to last, longer than many may have expected, “pandemic fatigue” has started to kick in. Many have become tired of hearing about the pandemic, all of its dangers, and dealing with all of the changes to everyday life. There is a struggle and often feeling of resentment from those following CDC guidelines against those who are not.
As we go into the colder months and the upcoming holiday season, it will look like one unlike any other. Families and friends will have to assess the risks of celebrating the holidays together and possibly alter some traditions. Although many want to see and travel to extended families, especially during such a stressful time, many are choosing to stay on the safe side and wait until next year. However, there is a worry that some will choose to ignore certain safety recommendations and travel to see friends and families during the holiday season. During a time of usual excitement and happiness, the grimness of the pandemic will cause an undoubtful shift.
